McAlester Fortnightly, a member of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs of Oklahoma, and its members have enhanced the citizens and community of McAlester, Oklahoma in Pittsburg County, through their commitment to volunteer service programs for 115 years. McAlester Fortnightly Club asks for recognition of GFWC Federated Anniversary Day as May 14, 2019 as celebration of our Clubwomen donating their volunteer efforts and monetary donations to the Hope House, CASA, Youth Emergency Shelter and Domestic Violence Shelter in our area, along with the 1904 establishment of the McAlester Public Library by the predecessors of these Clubwomen. McAlester Mayor John Browne in support of this noble and worthy cause, hereby proclaimed the Day of May 14 as GFWC Federated Anniversy Day.
