It is fitting on 11 November to mark the armistice for the cessation of hostilities signed between the Allies of World War I and Germany, which took effect at eleven o'clock in the morning; the "eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month" of 1918. November 11, Veteran's Day, remains a day to reflect on how we can achieve peace as it was originally observed. It is fitting to mark the 100th anniversary of "the war to end all wars" and to perpetuate the memory of those who served in the First World Ward and veterans of all subsequent wars for their service and sacrifices. Pictured from left McAlester Mayor John Browne and Tammy Hinton, and Daughters of the American Revolution Kilihoti Chapter proclaim the week of November 11 through 17 as Honoring Our Veterans Week and ask citizens to reaffirm the ideals the Framers of the Constitution had in 1787 by vigilantly protecting the freedoms guaranteed to us through the sacrifices made to guard our liberties
